Any mouse will do. I recommend a wired one.

Wireless mice are good, but you are far more likely to keep knocking the dongle on a laptop.

Many thanks
Make sure it is one designed for computers. I bought one of those furry ones by mistake, and the first problem was that it kept running off, and then my cat ate it (which served it right for pooing all over my desk).
Do not get a mouse with a "ball" underneath but an optical mouse (no moving parts).

Get one that can plug into your USB socket as not all laptops have a PS/2 socket.

Although some people are happy with a standard size mouse on a laptop some like a smaller mouse, as it helps you work in confined spaces (on a train or plane for example).
