My Norton Security is due for renewal in 20 days or so, and I now get pestered with small items that take ages to clear and statements that virus are detected, everytime I log on. I am sure that this is a ploy to get me to renew early, I am intending renewing but at the right time. Has anyone else noticed this, or have I got things wrong?

Kick out Norton and install AVG from grisoft its better than Norton and its free!!
I have never noticed it but I never renew my Norton Antivirus subscription.

I just go on ebay and buy and install last years Norton Antivirus which comes with a new years subscription and costs a lot less than the renewal for my current one.
I don't have a very high opinion of Norton AV, and suggest you go with Ratter15's suggestion, but I'm pretty sure that even they wouldn't stoop so low as to give you fake virus warnings. just to get you to renew.
Funny but I got the same thing happening with me, a whole year of very little alerts then all hell broke loose 2 weeks before renewal. I switched to NOD32 antivirus and Kerio firewall, much better.
