Has anybody actually got anything good to say about NTL? We've been with them for some time (dont ask why,i don't pay the bills), and they are shockingly sloppy in the hardware and the service. Anyone disagree?

Can anybody name a company worse than NTL?

I have had NTL cable broadband for nearly six years. The cable modem is still going strong so I can't fault the hardware. They used to be contactable 24/7 but now only run a 9-5 service but since I hardly ever phone them it has not been an issue. I originally had 512 Kb link but they have been upping it and it is now 2 Mb (I think). I would like to have been asked whether I wanted to keep the original speed but not pay as much but was never asked. The cable connection is uncapped which is also good. My biggest problem is that they are very expensive, although the broadband service I have had from them has been excellent: maybe 1 day downtime in 6 years. We changed from BT for the whole NTL system (telly, phone and broadband) so ADSL has not been an option for us, unless we go back to BT. Now. of course, the analogue cable telly has been out performed by freeview although I am still considering getting a chipped box from eBay to watch all the channels :>)
NTL have been fine for us, no problems. We've got cable, broadband and phone.

Not a cheap package with the footy and everything, but no problems at all.
I was with them on dial up, TV and phone package a few years back and had no problems.
I moved, and had just the unlimited dial-up and had no problems with the service again, but when it came to ending the contract I found them absolutely useless and ended up getting threatening letters because I cancelled the Direct Debit to cancel the contract because they weren't doing it.
I had NTL for 4 years or so, TV, Phone and Broadband. Never had a problem with any of it.

here ya go. (NTL Complaints letter)
Hi Flapper,

I had NTL about 3 years ago and I must I had no problem with them but I have a few friends that are with them at the moment and have the same issues as you have with their hardware and service, and they are constantly having problems with their internet service. It looks like NTL has gone a little downhill since I was last with them. I am with Sky now and BTYahoo for my internet service and I cannot fault it a single bit.
i have all ntl phone tv and broadband and i have had no problems with them at all even regarding customer service. i know people who have had probs but my experience has been very positive. you have to realise that whichever service provider you ask about there will always people who have had issues its inevitable really no provider can be 100% perfect all of the time.

recently my mate has just got talk talk and has had nothing but problems from day one. the first being huge issues installing the modem it just froze up every time halfway through installation, it ended up being three weeks into the contract even before he got online and hes got a bit of an idea about computers. regular person on the street on this occasion would have failed to solve this issue and the customer service was worse than useless.

Blimey, i never knew there was so much praise for such a company. As i said, i've benless thanimpressed. Before we moved house they blamed everything on the green metal box at the end of the street, then in the new house, strange coincidence, its the same thing...

Obione, you're quite right, its not reasonable to expect any company to be 100% reliable for 100% of the time.

This company was the only ISP that i hadn't heard a single good word about. Back in the old days we were BT dial-up and never had a problem. other people iknow are on Pipex and they swear by it. I swear by my NTL box butits not quite the same!
