I have a Lexmark X-1180 all in one Printer. It is kept in a purpose built Computer cupboard seperate from the tower system, but when I use it say once a week I have to always clean the heads of the cartridge as certain colours wont show. I thought you could leave the cartridges for longer periods than that withought the heads drying out. Is there a reason it does this and is there a cure.
Thanx

Yep that's a lexmark, make sure you turn it off when not in use as it will stay warm if permanently on and will hence dry out the ink.

Thanks, but I do and if I forget the thing automatically shuts down when I turn the comp off
hi i got the x1150 all in one and to be honest i will never buy lexmark again. i had exactly the same problem when i bought compatibles so thought thats what you get for being cheap so went and paid full whack for lexmark own and they lasted approx two weeks and dried out on me. mine shuts down with pc too so got no explanation other than they rubbish.

i keep it for scanning and have since bought a epson r220 which i use for photo printing and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone its just brilliant at its job.
I have the same problem with my Epson Stylus Photo 810 printer. Perhaps the recent hot weather hasn't helped. I have to do a 'head clean' operation several times or sometimes more before all colours will print.
