I need to buy two ipods for a friends wedding present. They are going travelling for their honeymoon. The groom has actually requested this gift from us because we have a massive music collection. But I haven't actually used one. Can anyone recommend some good ones that are easy to use?

There are 2 main commercial brands of MP3 music player, these being the Apple iPod and the Creative Zen.

I bouhg into Apple so can only really give you info on that player

Firstly it depends how much music the couple have. Different iPods hold different amounts of music.

An iPod Nano can hold 1, 2 or 4 gigabytes of songs, suitable for those with a small music collection.

An iPod can be bought in either 30G or 60G sizes.

I have nearly 4300 songs on my iTunes, so got the iPod 30g.

Or of course there is the iPod shuffle, which will play songs completely randomlu ynd has no screen.

Try this for info on prices: http://www.johnlewis.com/Audio+and+TV/Apple+iP od/Category.aspx?SearchTerm=ipod

Or look on the apple site for more info.
I am assuming you have converted your record collection into mp3's and are storing them on your own PC?
If so a 'plug and play' MP3 player like the 'Creative' mentioned might be a better option, as it will allow you to 'drag and drop' your music collection (or theirs) without the need for additional software like itunes.
Furthermore, if you buy the 'apple' 'ipods' any music you put on can only be changed by you (digital rights management software prevents other users downloading files uploaded), therefore you would be unable to 'jump start' their music collections for them. The way round this would be for you to transfer you mp3 music collection onto writable DVD's and let them install it from their own PC's. Hope this advice makes sense to you, come back if you have further questions.

Creative ZEN gets my personal recommendation over an Apple Ipod but also read Customer Feedback in Amazon.Co.UK for both items
Are they wanting to store a lot of music, or just 600 or so songs?

If they don't want to store lots and lots, then get the iPod Nano. If they want to store more, as well as videos and/or pictures, then get the regular iPod.

The Apple store offer free engraving too, if you'd want to do this. Also if you know a uni student, get them to buy it because it's cheaper.
