Burning Discs Problem

Hi All, recently been having a problem with my pc - seems that it's decided not to copy from one drive to another anymore. If I cache the files to be copied it's ok, but straight disc to disc lets me down, usually wasting the blank disc in the process. Happens with cds and dvds, and just started the past couple of weeks. Any ideas? Don't think I made any settings adjustments, but i have copied a helluva lot of dvds lately. Is my burner knackered?

Should've mentioned - copying has slowed a lot recently too - could take an hour to copy a dvd now, including a half hour burntime. Used to be about half that. Using XP, AMD Athlon processor, 60gb harddrive with about 30 free, 756mb ram, 1.33bus(I think)
sounds like your drive may be on it's way out. New ones cost about 35
