xp running very slow

my xp computor is working very slow and takes a long time to do anything and it is getting really frustrating , i also have bee ntrying to delete itunes but it just wont go away , some people say it is beacuse i might not have enough memory is there any way to find out how much memory i have left and what can i do to fix the problem

to find out how much memory you have click>start>my computer>view system information, near the top left, look near the bottom of the system properties box that appears and it will say: xxxx of ram.
XP requires an absolute minimum of 256mb to run OK, 1gb (1024mb) of ram is more the norm these days, ram (random access memory) is normally in multiples of 128 eg: 2x128=256, 2x256=512, 2x512=1024.
Ideally you should have two matched memory modules made up of the multiples above.
download - freeram pro xp, this will free some up. its free
after checking your memory, close all open windows so all there is is your desktop, then hit ctrl, alt, delete all @ the same time then open the processes tab and see if something is running and see how much of your cpu is being utilized. system idle is normal.
