I've just bought a vcr/dvd recorder combi from Panasonic, and it was advertised as being able to pause live tv.

I can't figure out how to do it. Do I need to buy a DVD RAM disc?

All help will be greatly appreciated!

not sure if this will help but I have a dvd recorder and in order to watch a prog that is still being recorded I need to use a RAM disc and also a RAM disc is needed if you want to watch one prog while recording another. I used to have a different dvd recorder and I found that RAM discs are ok for all recording functions.....eg...record and keep (use title protection) and day to day recording that you watch and then erase.......XXX
To be able to pause live TV (sometimes called Timeshift), you need to use a DVD-RAM disc. R or RW discs cannot do this. Unfortunately, RAM discs are quite expensive, though fortunately, they last exponentially longer than RW discs.

You should be able to use any disc to record a programme while watching another though, that's just like old fashioned video.
I have a dvd recorder with hard drive and don't use any removable disk to pause live tv.

Which sort do you have?
