I'm quite new to working online and twice in the last week I have received alerts regarding my need for Registry Repair Software. Is this essential or merely another way to get me to part with another $30?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Ignore it & anything like it. Then install a pop-up blocker from your Tools menu (under Options)

If they just popup on web sites then as mentioned ignore them as they almost certainly don't even do what they claim. It's pretty rare that your registry will go wrong and if you're running Windows XP it'll have a backup copy.

If you're getting them at other times then you might have spyware installed, but I suspect it's the former.
