does anyone know what day the pics were taken for google earth? more specifically for the North East

I don't use it but my brother in law does like it - he worked out that it was around 3 years old as you couldn't see an extention on his neighbours property.

cheers for that. I think this is the best way to find a date (unless someone from google earth can just give an answer) - ie : it must have been before oct 02 cos that got built etc


the website gives a very broad range of timescale but i would like to try and find me (wheres wally?) and my car is not at home or work


It is a composite of many different pictures taken at different times and is being updated all the time. We nailed an area of the North West to a Saturday afternoon in Autumn 2002. Now there is a year between one side of the high definition area and the other.
We have a Morrison's supermarket in Scunthorpe thats been there at least 10 years that we can remember and it's missing from Google Earth so that bit's very old
I find that a lot are about 5 years old (given what I can see that has since changed).

Note that the images are taken at different times often; they try to get all images from one time obviously, but it can't always be done.
