Hi,

I have a Mac desktop, and I may get a PC laptop. Will I be able to transfer my antire iTunes catalogue over to the laptop?

Is this easily done?

How do you do it?

First off, I'd recommend sticking with appleonce you've made the move. Unless of course you still need to use windows-only programs, or something like that making it good reasoning to use a windows laptop.

To do it, you'll either need to burn your music (from your music folder) onto a DVD or CD (or multiple of these), or onto an external hard drive or large flash drive (depending how much music you have). Then it's just a case of copying it onto the PC (after installing iTunes on it from apple's website), and you're done.
or just do it over your network if you have one?

Thankyou fo3nix, I will bear that in mind, I can't help thinking PC just makes more sense. I was hoping to avoid having to rip everything and transfer it that way, so joules, thanks for mentioning networks, that is something I know next to nothing about, firstly, is it possible to network between PC and Mac?
it is yes, providing both your mac and new pc have an ethernet (broadband internet) port. then you just need a cable to connect the two (called a rj-45 crossover cable).

if you don't need any windows applications, then i'd advise you to stay with apple if you're happy with your current mac. you won't have to learn new shortcuts, or new ways of doing things. and the two macs will work much more easily with one-another than mac OSX and windows.

If you have an iPod (i.e. with all your music on), you could transfer it easily onto the windows computer with XPlay:

There's a free trial availble which should be fine. You could also transfer your other files and things using the iPod too.
