I have a DELL laptop -less than 2 years old. Last month I had to replace the hard drive and now this month the backlight has gone. Its no fun typing in the dark I can tell you.

So I have 2 questions

1.Is it likely to be the backlight itself ( a cold cathode apparently) or is it more likely to be the inverter? And(subsidiary question) how easy is it do source/fit either?

2 Do I have any chance of getting some help from Dell?

I am seriously unimpressed with Dell and their products.I already had to return the printer that came with the laptop-but that was well within the years warranty and so had relatively little hassle.
