Camcorder with Auto Power-off Overide?

Can anybody tell me if most Digital Camcorders these days come with the option to overide the AUTO POWER-OFF function, ie. stop it from switching off if left untouched? ...I need the camcorder for drawn animation using an Apple Mac via firewire. Ta!

I know that on mine (Sony PC105), if you take the tape out and run it with the charger plugged in and use the USB cable, it'll work as a webcam which won't auto-poweroff. I know that USB will be fairly useless to you, but the same might be possible using firewire, but I don't know how, sorry!
