Trouble always comes in multiples.  First my internet went down, Virgin are coming out on Saturday (first call out in 20+ years).

I downloaded the latest security update to my mobile and now the UI won't work so it's more or less useless.  It's a RealMe GT.

I rebooted in to safe mode and the 'clear cache' isn't an option.

I have taken the SIM out and am now using it in my ancient iPad.  I don't have many of the apps installed on this so am a bit stymied.  I rely on Slack and can't log in to it on my iPad.

Sorry for the long winded post.  Any idea how to get my mobile up and running?

Have you tried uninstalling the latest update?

Question Author

Impossible as the UI isn't working, unless there is another way of doing it.  I can't access settings or anything else

See 'Method 2' in the factory reset instructions here
https://www.realme.com/in/support/kw/doc/2051721
but (initially, at least) DON'T use the 'Wipe data' option.  Instead, see what happens if you try one of the other options, such as 'Online update' or even, simply, 'Reboot'.

Question Author

I've tried the reboot, will try the method 2.  I assume the wipe data is a factory reset?

^^^ Yup.  You'll lose all of your data if you finally decide to go down that route.  (That's why I put "DON'T" in capital letters above!)

Question Author

I am in safe mode and the only options are format data, reboot, power off

^^^ Come out of Safe Mode then.

Select 'Power Off' and then (quoting from my link above) "After turning off the phone, press and hold the [Power button] and the [Volume Down button] at the same time. After the phone vibrates, release it, and the phone will automatically enter Recovery mode".

Its situations like this I feel sorry for people that rely on broadband to watch tv.

Give over Quenched. You won't die if you can't watch TV.

Thanks all. I've had to reset it to factory default.  Fingers crossed that will sort it

As long as you can power on your phone and have a Windows PC and USB sync cable, you can likely return it to stock condition. https://www.mobileguru4.com/realme-gt-5g-rmx2202-flash-file There is also a website where RealMe GT owners have posted their accomplishments, and you can ask for advice. https://xdaforums.com/f/realme-gt.12339
