How do you transfer photos onto an iPod Nano? Also, if you want to add a song to your iPod do you have to delete all the songs on the iPod and then add them all over again plus the new song, or is there an easier way?

I assume you have Itunes? If you dont. You need it.
Ok, I have an Ipod, Ipod Mini and Ipod Video. I dont have the Nano but the process' your asking about should be the same as the Ipod Video.

1) Pictures - Create a file. Give it a name. Add all the photos you want to it. Then go to itunes. Right click the ipod icon on the left hand side (only there when ipod connected) Go to the 'ipod' tab. Then the 'photos' tab. Tick the 'Synchronise photos from' box, but be sure to choose the folder you created from the drop down box next to it..you will have to browse for the folder. Its done. When adding photos in the future, it will either be just add them to the folder you created or - within your folder, itunes will have created a 'cache' folder...this is normal, you may have to add the new photos here...not sure..trial and error I am afraid as I have not tried yet.

2) Pictures - Album/single artwork - Double click the song you want to add artwork too. So it knows what song you want to add too. In the bottom left hand corner of i tunes, yu will see a square box saying something like 'drag artwork here' Do exactly as it says. To delete it, just right click the song in itunes and click 'get info' click the tab that says 'artwork' and follow the instructions.

Note: To update your ipod with artwork I have to do the following: Go to your ipod icon on the left hand side, right click, go to 'ipod options' click the 'ipod' tab. At the bottom you will see a tick box saying "Display album artwork on your ipod" If is already ticked, unclick it, press 'ok' go back to that same point and this time re-tick the box and again click 'ok' If it was unticked you need to just tick the box. This must be done every time you want to update. Its a quick process once you know how.

Continued....

2) Adding songs, Click and drag the file over the ipod icon and let go, hey presto ! Or make sure you set the itunes programme to allow all music files to be opened with itunes. That way you just double click the file and It will do it automatically. But to put it over to your ipod? Well just click and hold the file you want in your itunes library and drag it over your ipod icon or just set your itunes to allow the ipod to update automtically via ipod options menu (right click your ipod icon). Doing this will update ALL new songs. The other way I described by dragging each song allows you to keep control of what you want on your Ipod.

If none of this seems to work...have you got the latest version of itunes? If not..upgrade (for free) from the Apple website

Yes but what if there are already songs on the ipod? When I go into my iPod folder all the songs on my iPod appear in grey and you can't add another song over until all of them are deleted off of you iPod. Is there an easier way?
As far as I know, If there is still room on your ipod for songs there should be no reason why you cant add another song...categorically...you DO NOT have to delete any songs from your ipod to add a song if there is still room on it.

It may be you have reached your memory limit, in which case to delete a song from the ipod just right click the song you want to delete and click 'clear' it will then ask you if you wnat it sent to the recycle bin or just deleted from ipod. If you want to keep it in itunes, do not send it to the recycle bin.

If there is room on your ipod...you have a problem. You will need to go on the forums on the apple web site.

Unless anyone else knows if the Ipod Nano can only add songs if you delete them all first? But I doubt it.

If I have not got what your trying to ask, try asking the question another way. As far as I an work out, what your saying is "my Nano is not allowing we to add a song unless I delete them all first from the ipod" in which case this cant be right...check your memory status

you're right brooklyn: the song's aren't deleted. it just adds the new song.

heather: all the iPod does is store a copy of the music in your iTunes library. or as much as it can fit in, anyway. if you add something to iTunes library, it also gets added to iPod. it doesn't delete everything first.

Yes but i've set my prefernces so the ipod only stores songs on the library which are checked. And anyway, I wasn't asking that. How can you remove one song from the ipod? Because all the songs that are on my ipod appear grey in my ipods folder on iTunes.
To remove ONE song from your Ipod:

1)Plug in your ipod
2)Wait until you see the ipod icon appear on the left hand column of the itunes programme
3)Left click ONCE on the ipod icon so that it is highlighted
4)You will now see in the main window what is currently on your ipod
5)Find a song that you want to delete from your ipod
6)Place the mouse cursor over the song name and right click your mouse ONCE
7)Click the 'clear' option on the small menu that apears.
8)Another small menu will appear. Click the 'remove' option
9) Note: This will remove it from your ipod but not your itunes programme.

You will have now freed some space on your ipod. Repeat these steps until you have as much room as you need.

If you ever want to put those songs you deleted back on to you ipod just re-copy it to your ipod from the itunes library.

If you want to delete a song from your itunes or computer just copy the steps above BUT click on the library icon first instead of the ipod icon.

Simple

Has that solved the problem? . If this does not work you clearly are doing something wrong or there is a fault with something, or your not describing the issue clearly.

But the question you asked HAS been answered.

Hope it helped. Let me know. Ta

Heyl0o! I've got some good results! I wasn't asking a stupid question after all! All I did was right click on my iPod folder in iTunes, clicked in iPod options and instead of checking the automatically update iPod I checked the "Manually sort iPod song" (or somethin like that!).

Thanks Anyway!
