Connecting my A2 to the computer with a USB lead used to bring up File Explorer and I could cut/copy & paste photos from the mobile to the computer. This has stopped happening, I don't get an option on the mobile to allow file transfer, and I don't see the mobile on File Explorer. I've obviously changed some settings without knowing it, could someone please help me recover the transfer mode?

Have you remembered to activate the phone, by entering the PIN (or by using the facial recognition feature), before attempting to transfer files? You can't do so if the phone is only in standby mode.

I've never activated the phone Buenchico, and until quite recently I just connected it to the computer via the USB port and File Explorer automatically opened!
You definitely need to ensure that the phone is 'on', rather than just in standby mode, before attempting to transfer any files.

Thanks Buenchico, and without knowing how I've fixed it, I spent ages going through options and turning thing on (often without knowing what the consequences might be) and all to no avail, I then re-booted the phone, reconnected it, and a banner about allowing sharing came up which I allowed and bingo. There remains one final issue that I'm not too worried about, although I have full access to photos I'm unable to see or access videos!
Videos should be with still images, in . . .

This PC > [Username]'s Galaxy A12 > Internal Storage > DCIM > Camera
Question Author
That is the exact route that I'm following to get to the photos but the videos aren't showing!!!

Don't know if you are still with me on this Buenchico, worth mentioning perhaps if you are (you might have another numb scull to deal with in the future), the missing video's, although showing in the gallery with the photo's actually came from WhatsApp messages. I'm thinking that they might be android files of some sort. Thank you for trying to help.
Here's where Whatsapp says that they should be:

Thanks Buenchico,
My phone is a little different to that, I have 'Internal Storage' but it doesn't contain a WhatsApp folder, I have however found the WhatsApp files in the 'Download Folder', stored as APK files, but I'm unable to open them on my computer. It's not a problem, if I email them with the mobile, when I receive them on my computer they are MP4 files that I can obviously open as normal.
Thanks again.
Alan
