I have recently got a new laptop can anyone tell me the way to transfer my files etc from pc to laptop

Both your machines will probably have a USB port.


So buy a USB key from maplins or PC World and then transfer the files using the USB key


Here is the sort of thing you are looking for:

or you could burn a CD-R with all your personal files on on the old one, to put into the new one.

or connect the two with an RJ-45 cable.

If you are on XP, there is a feature in Start>All Programmes>Accessories>System Tools (Files and Settings Transfer Wizard) that will automate transferring over things like favourites, net settings etc as well as the files.


If all you really need is your files, I'd go with the above-mentioned methods and (in my experience) FAST is slow and takes a lot of disk space and resources, though if you only have a few files it should be OK.
