our video recorder has started recording the picture but leaving the old sound it is a aiwa v-fx7800k i can't find the instructions to know how to fix it was wondering if any of you know whats happened

sounds like your audio heads have done a runner, have you a good cleaner to try?if that doesn't work its not worth paying someone to repair as they're on the way out and you can get them quite cheap now

Probably the heads either need cleaning or are shot. Some older machines had selectable sound sources though - maybe the switch has accidentally been moved?

my video did exactly the same. i bought a video tape head cleaner ,played it through 3 or 4 times and it has been fine ever since.
