The screen won’t turn on on the ancient iMac. I’ve tried all the options mentioned when I google it. Anyone else got any ideas? Thank you

Which model?

There may be number on the back - usually starts A

It could be the backup battery.

Can I let you know tomorrow? It’s super ancient (15 years +)
Is it completely dead or do you, for example, hear the fan whirring (or see lights coming on somewhere on it) when you turn it on?

It makes the pinky ponky noise and you can hear it doing something - I don’t know how it normally sounds when the screen is working because I never use it.

Girl has been through apple chat (she uses the iMac at the moment), they said hardware problem. I was just hoping someone had a magic trick - I’ll try it tomorrow and see if the happy pixies have been to fix it (certainly not buying another one).
Saw the title, thought it was a hair removal thread !

You'll need an iMac engineer to check it out.
If you can find a local Apple dealership, preferably a small operation, they probably have an engineer who can diagnose the problem.

If it isn't worth repairing, they might be able to suggest a refurbished model at half the price of something new.

It hasn’t got any numbers or serial numbers on it.

It sounds like the fifth or seventh - it’s one that’s just a screen and a keyboard.
