Several times when I've been out recently I've been invited to leave my details for track and trace. It presents me with a qr code. Is it simply a case of hovering the phone camera over it or do you need some sort of qr reader app? Ps no moaning about invasion of privacy please!

You simply turn the app on and point your phone's camera at it. The app will check the link for safety and then take you to the relevant web page.

I think must have a phone that does not have it built it
PS. Some test-&-trace QR codes lead to web forms that only take a few seconds to complete. Others are appalling ; you can eat your meal in KFC quicker than you can fill in their stupid form!
If you've got an Android phone, go to the Play Store and search for 'trend micro QR'. The app you need should be the first one in the list.
What phone do you have? Sometimes you have to enable scan in the camera settings
