My new mouse has a mind of its own. When im using it, it often shoots off to the corner of the screen. I've tried slowing its use down but it made no difference. Its a Belkin optical mouse with cable. Any advice would be great as im getting to the point where I want to put a hammer to it!

Do you have a mouse mat and if so does it have a picture or design on it?
Optical mice get confused by such things so try it on plain background.

Hi gary, yes but no design just plain blue. It is slighty reflective if that makes a difference.
Maybe this mouse needs its own driver software loaded to work correctly, did it come with a driver CD ?
otherwise try it on a different surface such as the table top or whatever and see what happens. An optical mouse should work on almost any surface so experiment a bit.
