I think it's used for astronauts when they go on long haul trips... Seen as some people aren't following the advice from the WHO, regarding social distince, could a hibernation pill be given to people?

>>> I think it's used for astronauts when they go on long haul trips

No astronaut from Earth has ever gone on a long haul trip. The furthest they've ever gone is to the moon, which is like 'just popping next door' in terms of space travel.

Human hibernation simply isn't possible. Here's some science to support that statement:

Aww, I watched too many SiFi movies... But isn't there is a drug to keep people in a coma?
Me, hibernate? I just don't think that I could bear it.
There are drugs that can be used to medically induce a coma but the patient needs to be kept in intensive care throughout the period. That requires the use a ventilator (which aren't exactly in great supply at the moment), a lot more expensive technology and a large team of support staff:

Lorazepam knocks me out, gladly.
a medically induced coma is a bit different :-)
I think doctors only put a patient in one to give their bodies a chance to concentrate on healing and usually no longer than 2 - 4 weeks.

Someone would have to go and make sure they are moving in their sleep to prevent bed sores
Try watching 'The Vampire Diaries' that'd induce coma to even the most hardend Sci-Fi/Fantasy fan.
