I recently had my Windows XP p.c. formated (wiped) and since having it back up and running, the Ampersand Key (@) does not respond...I have to bring it up using the Shift Key + 2 (not very convenient)
Does anybody know to restore it to Shift + @ Key ?

Are you getting the double quote instead?
Try ALT + SHIFT - this toggles between US/UK formats.
It's far more likely to be a keyboard fault than related to your PC itself.

A new wired keyboard needn't cost you more than a tenner (e.g. £5.99 in PC World, £8.00 in Wilko, £7.00 in Asda) and it's always wisest to have a spare handy anyway.
PS: I've assumed that you've got a dead key. If you've got an active key that's simply bringing up the wrong symbol, you need to change the keyboard language. ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/258824/how-to-change-your-keyboard-layout ).

PPS: @ isn't an ampersand. & is an ampersand.
I think shift and 2 is how to get the @ on an American keyboard, so I presume you’ve somehow configured it so that it thinks it’s an American keyboard and you need to get it back to a British keyboard. Sorry but I don’t know how to do that bit.

ok well shift+2 = double quote UK and hash (#) US.
the @ is shift comma on UK

Hi Folks,
Sorry to bother you's again and I did mean the @ key in my original thread.
I thought I had solved the problem but tried my Keyboard again today and the @ is still not responding as I still have to use the Shift + 2 Keys.
Does anybody know how to permanently resolve this @ key problem...tried another Keyboard but still the same.
Thanks
