Does your ipad not update any more? If that is the case then a new one should be faster. Do you have a freind with any kind of tablet who could come round and see if their tablet was faster than yours on your hub?

I don't know if my iPad updates itself, when I try the software update, the circle just goes round and round
Define ‘internet is slower’ doing what? Just opening pages, playing videos? Newer iPads are only faster in their computing power. Have you shut down all running apps and just opened your internet browser to see if that makes a difference. Plug it into iTunes, do a full backup and then reset it and restore from the backup. I’d try all of these before handing over a large wedge of cash :-)
Have you tried switching on and switching off again?
Killing all active apps? Sounds daft but worth asking. That can cure a multiple of ills
Switching off and on again - sorry!

Sorry I am not technical , yes I have switched off and on, what are active apps? No idea how to plug into iTunes and do a full back up ... I don't want to lose any photos or anything. Is it easy to do? I am not a young whizz kid I'm afraid!!!
Have you got Facebook? I save all my photos on there because you can access them from any device. I steal photos from my kids :-)
Go to settings then click on General

Look for the model number and Google it. You'll then know what version you have.

Have you never backed it up? If you connect it to Itunes you can back it up to the computer.

You can also copy your photos to the computer - it should appear as a device on the computer and you can then copy the photos to the computer.
If it is an iPad 2 then will not update above what you have 9.3.5 needs to be 12.3.3. Also a lot of new apps will not work or download on a 2. Not having the updates for some of the apps slows it down a lot.
Buy a new iPad from the Apple shop and those wonderful young techie people who work there will sort all your problems out for you. They explain things in words of one syllable and don’t talk down to grey haired people, can’t recommend them highly enough.
This is how to check and close running apps on IOS 9 http://osxdaily.com/2015/11/11/how-to-quit-apps-in-ios-9/
You can kill all active apps by double clicking your big button at the bottom. This will bring up all the pages that you have had open, like this page. Then you simply swipe up each page and it will disappear.

When you have a plain screen, click your button again.
Just checked my retired ipad mini. Its on the same IOS as you and no longer updates but its fast on my wifi....but I keep it stripped down to the bone, no photos, very few apps and no emails.

If I connect to iTunes and back up will I lose all my photos?? I do have them backed up on my laptop but I like to scroll through them. Thanks all.
Smurf you could run any of the speed checks on both your devices and see how they compare.
I use this one but lots available.

If you don’t update regularly then it will run slower. It’s a bit like asking why a car doesn’t run right and then admitting you haven’t had it serviced for 4 years.
Oh no! I have this problem. I used to update but then stopped and I'm on version 7 summat. Just looked and said cannot upgrade on wireless, connect to iTunes on PC to do it. OMG that's out of bounds to me, no idea how to do that. I have iPad Air 1 ...how can I do all this please...I think I am going to lose all my photos going it alone?
And, no, You won’t lose your photos, as long as you have ticked the sync box. The whole point of backing up is to prevent the permanent loss of things. You can also install Google Pix which automatically backs up photos to cloud storage.
dunnitall, you’ll have to install iTunes on your computer. Then you connect your iPad to your PC and sync everything. Alternatively you could go to an Apple store and ask them to do it.
