After handling PDFs for 20 years, I’ve finally found one I can’t open.

Preview says it’s damaged. Any workrounds?

Have you tried more than one PDF reader?

Well, Preview is obviously default mode. It won’t open in Photoshop, same message. I’ve tried an online PDF converter, no go. Bit lost, now.
Adobe Acrobat and Foxit are free PDF readers. You could try those. Download and install them (you don't need to let them set themselves up to be the default PDF reader for your PC), then right-click on the PDF filename, chose "open with" and select the one you want.
If you cannot open the file in another pdf reader then your file is probably corrupt and you will need to get a replacement.

I tend to use Foxit Reader or Cute pdf reader, both free to use.
How interesting - there was a billybb asking questions about PDFs back in 2006.
SlackAlice reminded me about cutepdf - I use cutepdf writer (also free) to create PDFs. That might be a good one to try as, if it does manage to read it, you will be able to save it with another name which will be recognised by Preview.

Sorry, should have said, I'm Mac, but I'll have a look at the other free converter programs. (And no definitely not billybb 13 years ago...)

iskysoft pdf converter doesn't work, either. all say corrupt file.

John Lewis WON'T send us another one. (Jobsworth).

No, Cute PDF (Mac) says no, too, so at that point I give up.

I'll post a full account of this stupidity on John Lewis 'support' department later. It's a real 'computer says no' situation!

Strange situation, BB. If you've tried several ways of reading it, it very clearly is a corrupt file that JL have sent you; I can't understand them making a fuss about re-sending it.
