CCTV systems arent that expensive now why not have the real thing.
The best idea is not to have one at all. Burglars actually seek out houses that have CCTV and burglar alarms to rob. They know that a house with an alarm is going to have something worth stealing . I worked inside a UK prison and several robbers told me that they look for houses with CCTV and alarms as they know it will be worth robbing them. They wait until no one is home, preferably on holiday. A 'professional' burglar will be in and out again in less than 2 minutes, no time for any response from the police or the alarm company.
Eddie, your experience of prison has been highly educational...
best alarm is a nosey neighbour !! I have great security either side of me...they never miss a thing...lol.. sensory lights are good at night !
Thanks naomi it certainly has. Learned more from that work than from many years in other jobs. How many of you have actually talked to 8 murderers for example?
Eddie, I meant educational for me. You offer the most ludicrous advice - you really do.
I was talking to a doctor the other day and came away thinking 'I'm going to set up a business giving medical advice'.
not 8.. 3 murderers...one in his own home !
So what is it ... 8 or 3 ..... or could it be none?
I'm very pleased to say that as far as I know I've never met a murderer and hope I never do. It is not on my bucket list.

Not a word .......
one in personal life..2 professionally...
I've met murderers but I don't see what that has to do with CCTV.

Eddie, again, is giving shoddy advice. Unless of course the police and insurance companies are advising people to get burgled.
^ I am simply stating the fact that 'professional' burglars I have spoken to have told me me that a main way they have of choosing which houses to rob is to look for the ones with burglar alarms. The basis is that those houses with alarms have stuff worth stealing. The best deterrent is to have a dog that makes a lot of noise if an unknown person approaches the property , that really scares them off.
Did you actually do any teaching?

I was burgled and the advice from both the police and insurance company was to install an alarm. It's not about about things worth nicking. I was burgled while we were all asleep, the burglar could have took one of my children and I wouldn't have known, it's about personal safety.
Mittyesque.

They look just like the real thing and there is nothing about it to say it doesn't actualy work. All I can say is they do attract a certain element of youths with hoodies who see it as a challenge against their existence. Be warned.
And these professional burglars telling you how to successfully rob a house and not get caught you say you met in prison.
Hmm something doesn't add up here.
