How reliable would you say checking your Lottery Ticket is on your phone APP. and not doing it visually via Newspaper-Teletext etc. I am not a electronic buff.

I check my lottery ticket with the OFFICIAL Lottery App on my Android phone.

But I then always take it to a shop to get it "scanned" as well before throwing it away.

People may think getting it checked twice is overkiil, but look at this page of Unclaimed Prizes.

NINE prizes of 1 million have been unclaimed since September 2017.

Forgot to add, when I have won a small prize (lucky dip, then £2, then £25) the phone app has ALWAYS indicated that I have won.

But I would also still get any ticket checked at a shop.

If anyone has never done this, just take the slip back to ANY shop that does the lottery and ask them to check it for you.

Has the app ever been wrong and then the shop scanning show you were a winner?

No.

However I remember about 6 months ago (or maybe longer) the lottery did admit that some winning tickets were not being picked up by the phone app, but I think they corrected it.

However that is why I always get it checked twice (as well as a visual check by me)

Once I checked my ticket visually and thought I had not won anything, and when it was scanned at the shop it was a "winner" (only a Lucky Dip I admit but still a winner)
Better paranoid than a loser I always say :)
A couple of years ago, I checked my ticket and saw that I had won £25.00. I took it to Tesco to have it double checked & to collect my winnings.

The girl behind the lottery counter apparently checked my ticket & told me that I was not a winner. She was about to throw it in the bin but I asked for the ticket back. She then checked it again & I got my £25.00.
It has been known for a person behind the till to say a winning ticket it is NOT a winner and throw it in the bin.

Then when the customer leaves the shop take it out the bin and claim the money.

A couple of shopkeepers have done this with large prizes, £20,000 or more, and been caught out by the lottery people.
the machine plays a different noise if you win.
i have recently foun my app does not want to accept the QR code
>>>the machine plays a different noise if you win.

For years the lottery machine made no noise, win or lose.

I believe they are now gradually adding a noise if you win on to machines, but none of the machines I have ever used to claim a win has made a noise.
