I take it for back pain. Not all the time but when needed. Didn’t even cross my mind but Mr Smow just said he is 99% sure I can’t take it into the U.S next week. I’ve Googled and am getting very random answers. Anybody know??

If your gp prescribed it to you and it's your name on bottle/packet there should be no problem, if it's over the counter I'm unsure about that.
Don't know about their legality but I've never had my bags opened going into the US.
As I read it you can take up to 90 days supply with either a copy of your prescription or a letter from your doctor written in English.

No problem. You can buy it in Walgreens, CVS and everywhere

Try Walgreens, they're the big pharmacies and some also have doctors in the store as we found out last trip, they should be able to help you about the legality and the US equivalents.

Sowould you all suggest getting a doctors note as well?? I don’t want to do anything that causes a problem.
You can't buy co-codamol over the counter in the USA, it's prescription only
No, I wouldn't

Even though I’ve got the box with the pharmacy label on I think I’m veering towards not taking it. Hey, there’s always vodka!!
If you have the pharmacy label on box, you are ok - don't leave them behind if you need them - I take them and could not do without them, no vodka would help my pain
Good for you. You can take it though
I know it's a different country with different rules but when I went to Australia a few years ago I had a letter from the doc and the prescription counterfoils for what I was carrying for a months holiday and nobody asked for any of it.
I assume if you don't try to hide it in your shoes or swallow/stuff the gear then you'll be fine.
Oz is really strict about carrying things through. I managed to get through with 3 bottles of champagne once. That was a bit nerve wracking.
I don't know what airline you are traveling on, but I read on the BA website that it's a good idea to take a doctors letter.

Flying with United Airlines. Seriously don’t want to do anything to mess this holiday up so think I’ll just not take them.
Take them with you. If you are worried about it (I wouldn't be) then just declare them on the customs form
You are worrying about nothing. Really. The only think that the US authorities worry about is whether you are carrying fruit or meat.
I'd say take them. What are you afraid they will do? Just get a doctors letter.

I’ve just never been to the U.S. and worried a bit lol. I wasn’t before Mr Smow piped up!!
