Google Contacts Android/pc Sync Problem

I have a Moto G2 android phone. Contacts are saved in Google Contacts. If I add a new contact on the phone, it is synced to and shows up on the PC - as I'd expect. However, if I amend a name in a contact using the phone or the PC, that amendment is not actioned vice-versa. The old name remains on the device not used for the change. This means having to amend on both the PC and the Phone - if I remember. Given that you make changes on the phone when out and about, forgetting to do it when home is a given!!! Can anyone help please

Try checking your sync settings.
Go to settings >>> accounts & sync.
Check to see if "auto-sync data" is on by clicking on the top right hand box.
Next, click on google.
Check that all the boxes are ticked.
You can "sync now" by clicking on the box in the top tight hand corner - this should sync everything and should hopefully update everything ..... fingers crossed :)

Thanks Gizmonster

The relevant "boxes are ticked" re auto sync etc plus I've tried several manual syncs. The issue relates specifically to any amendment made to the name of a contact. The change is simply not syncing to other device. Any other amend, say to the phone number or email address this does get syncedc ok. I googled this and it seems to have been an issue over a couple of years with people who had certain phones and has never been sorted as far as I can tell. Anyone else had this issue? Would really like to only have to amend a name change on one device and sync to the account etc
So if I'm getting this right, it's okay when adding new contacts; but not when you're amending any??
Also, when you amend a contact on your phone, it saves on your phone okay, but not on your PC??
I've possibly got a way round this bug:
Select the contact you wish to amend.
Call the contact, but hang up straight away before it connects.
Delete the contact - hopefully this will delete it from your phone and PC - maybe wise to check and see.
Go into your call history and click on the last call you made. It should show up as just a number, as it'll no longer be in your contact list.
You can save it to your contacts, but you can edit it before you save it, so you can make whatever changes you need to and it should sync okay, as it's adding a new contact. The only issue I can see, is if it syncs okay when you delete the contact on your phone??

Yes Gizmonster, it's ok with a new contact, just a problem amending one BUT only a problem amending the name. I get your suggestion, and thanks for that, but deleting the contact loses all the data such as email/home addresses, additional phone numbers. Using call history would recreate just that number. There has to be a solution that Google need to come up with as the issue is I believe at their end
