Cut, Copy, Paste?????

How can I copy text/links from one user on my PC, to another on the same PC? It's probably obvious, but I just can't seem to sus it. Any advice appreciated thanks.

Put the stuff you have copied in a shared folder. If you're on XP and open "My Computer" you should see one set up called "Shared Documents".

Not quite sure how to do that, I don't see a shared folder in "My Computer"!  But I'll have a play and see what happens!  Thanks.
There's a couple of ways to do this. One is LeMarchand's way. If you click the + beside My Computer in Windows Explorer, it's down near the bottom. It'll be there for every user.

Another would be to go to C:\Documents and Settings\bruce5755 which is where your user profile is kept. If you find the file in there, copy it then come back to Documents and Settings and open up All Users. If you put the file in the Desktop folder of All Users, then it'll be on the desktop of all users!

Alternatively, do exactly the same, but instead of putting it in the All Users profile, put it in the profile of the person you want to give the file to.

Give it a go. It's possible that you need administrator privileges to edit someone elses user profile, but we'll worry about that if we have to.
Use a USB memory stick or even a floppy disk?

Nope! sorry people, just can't get my head round this one!  No1:-  I cant find a folder marked Shared in "My Computer".  No2:-  Don't I have to paste onto a file, before moving into a folder (I can't just paste into a folder, can I ?).  Please remember I am a computer dummy, words of one syllable only! ;-)

If you open "My Computer" and the panel on the left "folder view", click the "folders" icon on the main menu bar to restore the blue panel with various options. One of these should be "Other Places". If necessary, click the chevrons on the "Other Places" bar to display the other places - one of which should be your shared documents folder. Open it by double-clicking

To paste things into it right-click on a blank area of the "shared documents" folder window. This should give you the open of creating a new Folder, Word document etc. If you create a new Word document you can paste your links and text into it.

You should also be able to use the same technique and the afore-mentioned USB key option.
