Its taking ages to cut (or copy) and paste, seems to be thinking about it for ages! I'm in a real hurry preparing a newsletter for tomorrow, so getting very frustrated. Why is it happening, can anyone please advise? Thanks.

got other programmes running on your computer maybe? You could try switching the computer off and on again to see if that helps, if you've got time.

Thanks juno - I wondered if that is what was happening, something running in the background, not sure what it could be though, or not sure how to cure that. I will do as you suggest and switch it off and let you know.
Many processes are going on the system simultaneously thus using up lots of memory and this is the reason why cut and paste suddenly goes slow. Hence at the very onset of “end the process” of all that is not required, with the help of task manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del), this will assist to run the other processes in a fastest manner.
Can't say why it's slow apart from what's already been said but are oyu using right click to select the options? If so, you might want to try the old keyboard shortcuts as I find these so much quicker:
Ctrl + C = COPY
Ctrl - X = CUT
Ctrl + V = PASTE

Old fashioned but speedy!!
And apologies if you already know the above!
Save current work & close app/program to clear the memory.
