I would like to try some different typefaces for my home made cards. Can anyone tell me either a good site for Free downloads or a good CD to buy?

Very grateful for any answers.

..Wow...they are all over the web...google free fonts and you will get loads of sites..........commoner. :-)

http://www.1001freefonts.com/ this link may work but if not just type 1001freefonts.com into the browser. to install just place the files in the Fonts folder.. C/Windows/Fonts ... and select them as normal.
Here are my two favourite sites:

Acidfonts has 4700 free fonts:

The main problem with Acidfonts is that it can take a very long time to work your way through all of the fonts available. So a site with a smaller selection can be easier to use. Fonts for Kids is my recommendation here. (Don't be put off by the name. There are some great fonts for everyone to use):

If you're going to start adding new fonts to your PC, then it makes sense to have a simple way of viewing them all. I recommend Free&Easy Fontviewer. (It's a very small download and really easy to use):

Thank you both for trying to help me, I have spent ages, and although I have found some great typefaces, and I  downloaded them, I cannot work out how to put them in folders or use them!! I will start again 2morrow when I have stopped banging my head on the desk!

Thank you again

Gill it is so easy to install fonts providing you can find the Fonts folder ..First RIGHT click the downloaded font file (probably a .TTF) and select copy from the menu....

........Double click the my computer icon on your desktop..then double click the C drive icon...then look for the Windows folder and double click that..then look for a folder called Fonts  and double click that......you will then see all your installed fonts.......click on Edit and PASTE the Font you copied from your downloads it is now installed.......

To use it open your Word processor or Photoshop or whatever and select it from the list..........hope this helps......commoner  ;-)
