Tablet Computer Will Not Perform On Charger

Why won't my Prestigio tablet work when the battery's gone flat when I plug in the charger like all my phones do? It won't function until it gets about 20% charged even though it's plugged into the mains.

Probably because it needs to draw more current than the charger can supply. What current rating is the charger?

Looking at the Prestigio site, the only charger they offer can output a max of 1A. This charger can output up to 2.4A to single device.

Ah, got it, the tablet needs far more amperage than a phone. Too much would possibly melt everything presumably, although if not it's a bit of a design fault as it stops you using it for nearly an hour each time.

Most tablets need a bigger power supply than a phone. The tablet will only draw what it needs, so using a charger with a higher rating is perfectly safe. The charger in the link is the one I use for my Blackberry Playbook, Nexu phone, and Lenovo 10" tablet.
