I am getting rather confused with DVD making.  I have taken a recording from a DV format camcorder and it is on my PC but I cant get it to burn to DVD.  I have used Nero but it asks for a CD and when I burn onto it and then try and play it on a DVD player it doesnt play. What am I doing wrong?

There are a quite number of possible problems, I would say the most likely is that you are burning the footage as whatever your camcorder saves as, and not as a DVD. Check that you are creating a DVD in Nero and not a data disc.

The Nero request you mention does also make it sound as if it is not recognising your DVD drive. Does it normally? If not, you should be able to get it to register the drive. (Obviously you must have a DVD writable drive!)

You might not be doing anything wrong at all.Does the CD playback the video on your PC ok? If it does, it may just mean that your DVD player does not play VCD or SVCD.
