Sound Issues with Media player / Real Player

Hi, I have an extremely irritating problem whereby when listening or watching a file using mediaplayer or real player; the volume drastically increases when i foward the file by clicking and dragging on the "clip position" icon.

Can anyone help? I've tried reinstalling sound drivers and even reformatted the C drive to no avail. Thanks in advance.
