Who has offered you the upgrade? The official release is at the end of July.

There is a technical evaluation version now which is not stable and not suitable if you don't know what you're doing.
There have been some very interesting articles on Windows 10 in
Computeractive magazine...they are impressed. I'll certainly upgrade from W7, which I like a lot.

The free upgrade just appeared on my laptop home page and appears to be from microsoft it says reserve you free upgrade
hc4361, user of Windows 7 woke up this morning with icon on their task bar saying 'Get Windows 10'. I know I did and others have got it.

Yansee, Windows 10 is NOT available yet. This is a "teaser" from Microsoft to get people show their interest.

Windows 10 will probably not come out till July or August.

If you are happy with Windows 7 then don't be pressured into upgrading to Windows 10 (when it comes out). It is free, but there are always problems with any new release of Windows.

I would wait at least 3 months after Windows 10 comes out before upgrading (if you want to) to let them iron out the problems.

Note the upgrade to Windows 10 will be free for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users.
....and you have 12 months from release date to decide if you want it and have it free.

Thank`s for your advice,i think i`ll take it and wait for a while before accepting any upgrade
Which sort of major differences if any would an upgrade mean, does it change and/or alter a lot?
I'm using W10 and love it, even in its beta form. July 29th is the release date for the official version.
hc4361,it is okay if you know what you are doing which you obviously do,I am always wary of change in case I then cannot fathom out how to use it!
I'm windows 7 home premium. Will I be able to get the update?
^^^Thanks for that baldric.

For
Start menu is functionally excellent
Action Center features are handy
Settings app is finally a Control Panel replacement
Universal apps are much higher in quality
Against
Several interface elements are slow
Windows 8.1 users will miss some features
Upgrade costs unclear after the first year
I've just noticed the Windows icon in that bottom bar.....it is asking me to reserve Windows 10. I'm currently using Windows 8.1
