I have just Googled to find out my IP address and I came to a website that gave me that info. It also said that mine is a Confirmed Proxy Server. Is this normal for a domestic computer?

It's not what most people would see but it's not necessarily unusual. You might have some security software, for example, that's routing your internet traffic through a proxy server to provide some sort of web-filtering (such as checking the integrity of websites which you visit in order to warn you of potential threats).

However it's also possible that some form of malware might have changed your browser settings for some unknown reason. Which browser are you using?

It`s Firefox, Chris. I do scan with Norton and Malwarebytes though so I don`t think it`s that.

I think I might have read this wrong. The site was whatismyipaddress.com and I under Services it says none detected so I clicked on it and read down the list thinking that they were my results. I don`t think they are though - I think that was just an explanation of possible results. Doh! Back to the drawing board..
Ah, I see. No problem then.
If you want to know your IP address, open My Computer/Computer click on the Network on the left hand side. From the next window right click on icon/router shown under Network Infrastructure and select 'Properties'.

Your IP should be on the last line.
That's your local IP address, SA, that your router uses to talk to your laptop, tablet, printer, etc.

237SJ is referring to the IP address which data sent to your computer over the internet is addressed to:
