I have a PowerPoint presentation written by somebody else, and on each slide the text is set to appear word by word. I can remove this by right-clicking on the paragraph, then custom animation, then change "introduce text" to "all at once" - but I want to do it for the whole presentation. Is it possible with a single action?

Yip - goto 'slideshow' (on the toolbar at the top of your screen), and turn off the Preset Animation.

You can do it in slide sorter view if you like, and if you highlight all the slides at once - use the alt key - you can turn it off on all slides at once.

You can also reset the timings etc if you prefer - same options.
