I sold an item on eBay to someone who says she sent a postal order. I didn't receive it and I've noticed she has low and negative feedback. How do I resolve this?

Anything sent due to an ebay auction should be sent recorded at the very least.  Try and obtain proof from the purchaser that the payment was in fact sent.  If it wasn't recorded and you don't receive payment you are entitled not to send the item.  Yes, you'll probably receive negative feedback, but you can counter it with your own statement by clicking on 'reply to feedback received' in your Member Profile page.

There is also a resolution centre if you click on Services, then Dispute Resolution.

Thank you Skids!
You haven't sent the parcel, i hope?

No John!
You are obligated to contact the buyer up to 3 times, i think it is. If you still get no joy, issue a dispute through EBay, and at least they will be aware of the problem you are having.

She actually emailed me twice, asking if I could let her know when I receive her postal order, which I found odd. I told her I would let her know as soon as it arrived. Then she asked again today if it had arrived yet to which I asked her when she posted it. As yet she hasn't replied. Anyhow, thanks for the advice. I will go down the dispute route if need be.
She should have kept the counterfoil bit on the postal order, and should be able to tell if it has been cashed.

I forgot about that. Nice one. I'll mention it if need be.

Ask her to scan the counterfoil and send you it as proof of purchase. If she says she threw it away or lost it, she's probably trying it on with you. You are not liable or obliged to send her the item as it stands, as it's the buyer's responsibility.

Maybe in your future auctions you could make it clear to buyers that if they pay by cash/cheque/PO that they have to send it recorded delivery (64p I think) or obtain a proof of posting certificate which is free. That way it covers them and you :)
