I don't know but am just sympathisng. I'm always really careful when I open my car door but I have also gathered a collection of these sorts of marks on what was immaculate paintwork. A combination of sardine tin designed car parks plus people who just don't give a damn.
tezmand, forget about those pen things ( not very good ), on the slight scratch use a bit of T cut although that won't get rid of the chip in the paintwork. Or you could maybe use a smart repairer like Chipsaway who will come to your home or place of work and fix it for you.

very true prudie i parked away from any cars only to come back and find cars either side of me the one on passenger side was just leaving as i got to car he was over the top in telling his wife she shud of waited til he pulled out before she got in and then asked if i was ok made me suspicious so put my shopping in boot and went to look at that side of car and sure enuff there was the small scratch and chip that im sure wasnt there b4 , he had drove off but i dont suppose i could of proved it was him anyway , very annoying i always hold my car door as i get out , ive seen kids just swing the door open onto next car and there parents aint said anything to them

ok thanks tonyav
The main culprits seem to be kids piling in or out of 4x4s in supermarket car parks. So do your shopping when the kids are in school, don't park next to a 4x4 and try to park on the end of a row (but not a corner end) as this reduces the risk by half. Pi$$es me off too.

Since havingy new car I park the furthest away on car park almost need to catch bus lol. By doing this I'm hoping ppl too lazy to park that far away from door of supermarket in guessing it will wear off as my car gets older although I do look after my cars
Tez, & all who has the problem, look on Ebay for a product called Farecla G3 Regular Grade Paste, used right as per the instructions will take out the Scratch but not the Chip, you can get a touch up pen to build up the chip, then use the product to get the paint down to the level of the orig paint, if the car is new, the touch up may not be on the market yet, the paint code will be either on the drivers door pillar of under the bonnet, the part that runs across the front of the car.

Ok cheers for that twr
Live with it - you're getting another scratch tomorrow....
bit of nail polish covered mine lovely!
I can recommend Chipsaway, had them twice now. The first time I came out of the dentist and some nice person had scratched my bumper, the second time was a DIY job when i had to take my dog into the vet to have a suspicious lump removed. I drove carefully there and back then got home and bumped the garage door. Bothe times they did an excellent job, took a dent out the second time, not the cheapest but careful work.
