I was working on an Excel spreadsheet and when I pressed Yes, to accept the changes, a message appeared saying the file had now been moved to a temporary folder. I cant find the spreadsheet now. I've used the search facility, without success, to try and locate temporary folders/files. I've tried using system restore, but that doesn't appear to be working. Can anyone help please? I really need this Excel spreadsheet. Using Windows XP. TIA.

It was probably a spreadsheet you opened from an e-mail or something. If the spreadsheet is still open start a "save as" and see where it wants to default save to.

Well if you know the name then there is the good old fashioned file search facility where you can look on all your drives.

My XP PC went down overnight so I'm unsure if this works there but you could search for %tmp% and hope it shows the directory it uses. No guarantee it's the one you are looking for but worth a shot.

Try My Computer/c:drive/Windows programs/temp folder. Should be in alphabet order.
