TV, laptop, PC?
Is it back to normal when you do anything such as move the mouse or hit a key? If so then likely to be screensaver turned on.

sorry,laptop. screensaver ?
Right click on the desktop - if you are using Windows 8/8.1 then select the Personalise option and the Screen Saver options are in the bottom right corner of the window; I can't remember how it varies from that in Windows 7 or previous versions.

windows 7, and a techno illiterate :(
You can use the Help option in the start menu on your machine to find out how to change the screen saver.
Try.......

Start ........... control panel ............. power options .......... change power plan
If it's not the screensaver cutting in, it might be an overheating problem. Check that the laptop's air vents aren't blocked.
