 What exactly does  "reformatting ur drive" mean? I've just updated, oops pardon me, upgraded, from Win 98 to XP  is that what it means?? Thanks in advance

It usually means wiping your disc clean and starting afresh - heres a sort of guide as to what's involved http://www.everythingcomputers.com/reformat.htm
Think of formatting a drive as 'wiping the slate clean'. You loose all data that was on the drive, so take care before formatting. When you upgraded from 98 to XP you probably installed the XP operating system over 98 - but did not loose any other data, for example emails, or Word documents. In short, no you did not format your drive, you just upgraded the operating system.
