Camera Batteries

Hello Everyone,
I have a Canon camera, model PowerShot A560, which used to be very moderate in its battery consumption, and is satisfactory in all other ways (we are not serious photographers, just 'snapshot' people) Just lately though, it's been a bit disappointing, I seem to be changing batteries all the time, and the last straw was putting in new batteries to go to the beach last Saturday, and after taking 3 photos there, I found the batteries were knackered today. My son says since the camera was bought over 4 years ago, it is now officially an antique, and I should change it forthwith. Do these cameras become more wasteful of battery power as they get older? You'll gather I am of the Box Brownie generation, and no-one actually repairs cameras like mine nowadays. Sorry to maunder on. -G-

Are you using the correct batteries ? ...read your destruction booklet....there are batteries and batteries !

we never tried rechargeables so far, on the principle 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' This battery drain thing is quite recent

We use rechargeable, don't keep them in the camera, just charge them up before we plan to use the camera, AA as well

I use rechargeables in my Powershot Camera and other things too. I use 2000mah and 2800mah ones and have a few spares already charged up and waiting. No problems at all.

more likely the batteries have just run out of steam; they don't recharge forever. Try new ones (proper Duracell ones, not the ones from the guy with the stall outside the chip shop) and see if the problem continues. If it does, it's the camera.
