No sound

For reasons best known to the almighty, my recording of last night's programme on BBC2 (The New AlQaeda) has a perfect picture but not a squeak of sound. Tried recording something else immediately afterwards and that works fine - let's not ask. This wouldn't be so bad if I had at least watched "live" but now I am likely to miss the thing altogether. Is there any way to get the soundtrack somehow, short of asking around if by chance friends recorded the same programme ?
