I am looking at buying a Nokia 6230 and the best price I have found is on Tesco Mobile. If I buy it, will it be locked to their network or will I be able to bung my Orange PAYG SIM in and use that instead? Would that be any different to buying a 6230 on PAYG (would I not be able to access certain features?)

Typically, phones are 'locked' when you buy them, meaning that you can't put another network's SIM card in.
If it's a contract tariff (i.e. pay monthly) then you would usually have to sign a 12 month contract, and pay for 12 months worth of line rental regardless of what SIM you have in your phone.
If it's PAYG, there's no contract, so you can use another SIM, providing the phone will accept it.
You don't usually lose any features with PAYG, although you may have to contact customer services to have picture messaging/GPRS settings downloaded to your phone.

Don't worry chaps - just found this on their website

Handset unlocking: Your Tesco Mobile handset is locked to the Tesco Mobile network. If you wish to use another network's SIM in the handset you will need to call customer care on 0870 900 4455 who will unlock it as long as a minimum of 30 of Tesco Mobile calltime has been credited to the handset in the time
since it was first used

Have a look at http://unlock.nokiafree.org/ which should give you the unlock code for your new phone when you supply it with the phones IMEI number (instructions on the page). That way, you won't have to pay out for 30 of call credit you don't want.
