Id Wooden Container - Military ??

Barn find ~6ft long, 3ft high dome top container. Seems to have a white fibreglass liner inside and mounts for a spool inside ??

We don't know what it is !!! Anyone ?

It looks a bit like the box my mum's old sewing machine came in, but the ID number stencilled on the bottom does look military.

Huge stab in the dark here but as the inside is also curved could it have been for some form of artillery shell or even a bomb. The curved section inside has a semi circle cut out as if the nose of a shell could have rested in it.
It does look very large though.

yet whatever it was it can't have been very heavy as those side handles don't look like they were meant for carrying, they are too small for a grown man's hand could it have been for reels of cine film from a movie theatre?

What does the green triangle on the side mean?
That might give a clue as to what was in the box. X

If it really was found in a barn it could possibly have originally contained some sort of tractor attachment like a harrow.
