I mentioned last week I was dreading installing my new computer.
Well, I've done it after a few glitches but I must say this new Wndows 8 takes a bit of getting used to.
Anyone else feel the same?

I've had it for about 3 months, and I'm not feeling the love.
I'm thinking of getting a new PC, but I'm wary because of reports about Windows 8...
I love my Windows XP

I think that says it all.
I LOVE Windows 8 on my desktop.
Yes. I've had 8 for months. It is a complete pain on this computer (Toshiba Satellite) mainly because I move the cursor lightly and the computer takes me to a different page, a different system (IE for Chrome or vice versa) or to mail when I want nothing more than to move it across the existing page
I hate change! ;)

I will stick to my trusty 10 year old+ computer and Windows XP ..............
I've recently built my current comp and (glad to say) I installed Windows 7 (64 bit). I've heard that Windows 8 is a bit bro-crap-colli.
I have both Windows 7 and XP Professional and I only use XP Professional. The Windows 7 laptop is unplugged, battery removed and sitting on the book shelf. I love XP and think it's the best of all the Windows programs so far.
I seem to be a lone voice in the wilderness but:
Windows 8 is, by far, the most resource efficient OS that Microsoft have released. It is a bit of a jump from XP or 7 (we won't mention Vista spit ) but it is really good once you learn how to make it work for you.
Windows 8.1 is out soon (NOT service pack 1 apparently) and they promise to restore the Start Menu, although, I quite like having a whole screen for the "start bar".

There, I've said it!

I'm sure the Microsoft cooperation is aware of its millions of XP users worldwide. Perhaps they might change their minds about ending support in 2014 for XP. I hope they do.
My new PC came with Windows 8 (no option to change) & it's the most user-unfriendly suite I've ever seen.

IMO, this was introduced to facilitate the use of touch-screen devices & for no other reason. BTW - who wants to be cleaning greasy fingerprints from their screen 20 times a day? Ridiculous.

I'll be changing back to Windows 7 at the earliest opportunity.

Good night all, be well :-)

The current issue of 'Web User' magazine has a feature on the 10 worst pieces of software ever. Predictably, it includes programs like RealPlayer, iTunes and Norton AntiVirus. It also includes Windows 8.

'nuff said!

You pays your money..............and you takes your choice.
...and I do agree with those choices, Buenchico.
I have Windows 8 on my laptop and I absolutely hate it.
I had new desktop built with (heaven help me) Win 8 and I hated it, however the guy then put the Win 7 shell on for me so I can use both. Must say I stick with Win 7 but my first choice would have been to stick with Windows XP but I knew support was going for it in 2014 so couldn't have that again sadly.
I hate it so don't use it.
W8 on my mobile, no probs so far after 5 months..... On a PC.... I'll get round to changing it in the future.. But en again I've been running with PDA's as a mobile for years, with W7 for 4 years.
