Threads I've subscribed to are listed on the side of the page, so I don't really need emails to tell me a new post has been added. Does anyone know how to stop them? I thought there might be something in my profile, but I can't see anything.

If I remember rightly, there is a unsubscribe function, damned if I can remember how you do it though.

If your following the thread then you wouldn't unsuscribe would you!
There's an opt out on your profile to get/not get emails when you get a reply to your own question, but I'm not sure there's an option regarding subscribed threads.
Just set up an email filter to send these emails directly to your trash folder.
I like it the emails, if you sign out of AB ou still get to see any responses to threads you've subscribed to.

Tony, //If I remember rightly, there is a unsubscribe function, damned if I can remember how you do it though.//

I was certain there was too – but I can’t find it.

dr b, //Just set up an email filter to send these emails directly to your trash folder.//

I’m not that smart with technology.
You unsubscribe the same way you subscribe - in the bottom of the original post there is a subscribe/unsubscribe (depending upon what you have done) in the bottom right hand corner next to the report thing.
Question Author
Sherrard, what do you mean? There's an 'unsubscribe from this thread' at the bottom of the emails, but that only relates to that particular thread. It doesn't stop the emails relating to other subscribed threads coming.
I don't get emails unless i subscribe to a thread, which i rarely do. It must be a setting somewhere if you're being subscribed automatically.
You have to unsubscribe from each one via AB, that's how I do it, don't know if there is an easier way.
Question Author
Maydup, I know. None of us do. I want to subscribe to threads, but I don't want the emails telling me an answer has been added to threads I've subscribed to.

Sherrard, I'm talking about stopping emails - not subscribing or unsubscribing to threads. I know how to do that.
Possibly digressing but I have only subscribed to a few threads, mostly questions from me but sometimes threads in 'Technology' where I'm trying to help someone; I have yet to receive an email about any of them.
Also they just disappear after a few weeks (usually they have run their course by then anyway). I have had to resubscribe to the Ab Editor thread 4 times now.
In fact, the only time I have had automated emails was when they had a problem with the system.
Ah naomi, I have just remembered how to unsubscribe. Look at the OP and you will see in red subscribe report. If you are subscribed to the thread then it should say in Red Unsubscribe Report, just click on Unsubscribe.
Question Author
Tony, I know how to subscribe and unsubscribe to threads - I just don't want the emails telling me there are new posts on threads I've subscribed to.

WyeDyed, I get automated emails all the time - that's the problem.
Sorry to be dim Naomi, but what's the difference between subscribing to a thread (ie signing up for an email every time a post is added to a thread) and what you're describing?
Question Author
Maydup, sorry, perhaps I haven't made myself clear. My subscribed threads are listed on the right hand side of the page. I can see at a glance if an answer has been added since I last looked at the thread. Hence I don't need an email to tell me that an answer has been added.
Question Author
ps. I subscribe to threads in order to remind myself which threads I'm following or involved in. I've never thought of it as 'signing up for an email every time a post is added to a thread', but now you've said that, my question is still can I stop the emails?
You can set your filter to block emails from AB but then you may miss an important AB email.
I very rarely subscribe so I'm not really able to put myself in your shoes.
Question Author
Someone else said that Factor, but I woudn't know how to do it - and I wouldn't want to block other emails from AB anyway. I just wondered if I could somehow stop the ones connected to subscribed threads from being sent - but it seems not.

Thanks all.
