Is it possible to record what is being played (DVD /game) through an X-box?

My channel for it is 'AV' but i get no result when i set the VCR to record this channel. Any ideas?

You need to connect the X-box to the AV-in channel of your VCR rather than the AV-in of your TV. Then set the TV to whatever channel you would normally use to watch a video. The VCR will then record the X-box signal, and you will be be able to monitor what it's recording on the TV.
you will need to set the x box's output to composite video  (often sent through a yellow phono/rca type plug)not RGB, as vcrs dont use rgb.
